EkkoSense Customer Briefing Forum May ’24
It was great to host the EkkoSense Customer Briefing Forum at The Shard in London yesterday. We had a packed agenda, and our goal was to provide a unique opportunity for EkkoSense customers to meet the software developers first hand, influence the product roadmap, and network with fellow users to share best practice.
Chief Product Officer, Paul Milburn, shared demonstrations of new EkkoSoft Critical functionality – including the Cooling Anomaly Detection feature that provides early insight into any cooling units that aren’t operating as expected. He included some exclusive insight into upcoming roadmap innovations, including a powerful enhanced Alarms capability and capacity planning developments due mid-year. The discussion led to how EkkoSoft Critical could add significant value to existing DCIM, BMS and other systems, with Assetspire’s Steve Beber highlighting the benefits of 3DCIM how easy it was to integrate the EkkoSense software with the SPIRE asset management platform.
There was also a comprehensive introduction to our exciting new data centre modelling and simulation solution for new workloads by co-founder and Chief Technology & Innovation Officer Dr Stu Redshaw. EkkoSIM is EkkoSense’s unique digital twin solution that provides comprehensive grey space modelling and simulation across full end-to-end data centre infrastructures. Stu demonstrated how EkkoSIM’s powerful ‘what if?’ analysis helps to validate investments or identify data centre breakpoints in unusual conditions or new high-density workloads. It was fascinating to see that the room break point was often not the component expected, and risk management efforts should perhaps be focused elsewhere!
Our two guest speaker sessions were undeniably the highlight sessions of the day with interactive audience discussions.
Shamim Mohamed, Data Centre Operations and Service Readiness Manager at Three UK talked through his team’s successful data centre optimisation project with EkkoSense and CBRE. Shamim detailed how we were quickly able to secure an impressive 200kW data centre cooling energy saving. Engaged audience members asked questions on the project’s rapid ROI and just how the team were able to start securing these cooling energy savings within only ten weeks.
Anna Dowson, Global ESG Director at CBRE DCS also provided an eye-opening session highlighting the sheer breadth of ESG compliance standards and regulatory requirements ranging across data centres, systems, and management & finance. She suggested that data centre operators – wherever they are based – need to prepare for a sustainability reckoning, stressing that without a clear ESG strategy, compliance can be costly and time-consuming. Anna also noted that data centre teams probably won’t meet their ESG and sustainability goals if they don’t embrace innovations such as compliance-ready ESG Reporting capabilities.
Thanks to all who took time out from their busy schedules to attend the event. We are already planning the next one!
