Job vacancy title – Senior Building Services Engineer 

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Building Services Engineer (skilful in HVAC/refrigeration and/or mechanical engineering) to join our world class Engineering team as part of a market launch of a brand new data centre modelling and simulation software product EkkoSim.  This new product will complement its award winning EkkoSoft Critical platform used for real time monitoring and whitespace optimisation.  

Candidates should have a senior engineering background (possibly with a consulting background) with a deep knowledge, experience and attention to detail to build digital twins of existing or potential data centres and make positive recommendations for improvement that will result in better economic performance, reduced energy consumption and reduced risk. The work we do and the process we employ is unique and requires process-driven individuals with strong aptitude for design and modelling aspects of data centre mechanical and electrical systems. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • To plan and deliver data center simulation projects employing expert technical assessments, electrical/cooling systems diagnostics and other advanced energy saving techniques  
  • Prepare concise and easy-to-read technical reports, cost/energy/thermal performance, and other project summaries to aid various submissions to the clients  
  • Carry out onsite surveys, studies and produce accompanying reports 
  • Be the single point of contact for any technical queries regarding the simulation of data centres using EkkoSim and any related software or sensors 
  • Support the installation and integration of EkkoSim into other thermal/energy monitoring systems 
  • Support project planning and implementation both within EkkoSense teams and among sub-contract resources 
  • Provide feedback into the software team to support continuous development of the platform for end users  
  • Undertake duties and comply with all the company’s Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, including carrying out risk assessments 

Essential Skills/Experience/Eligibility 

  • Qualified and chartered building services or mechanical engineer, preferably with an electrical or cooling specialism 
  • A strong academic background with Higher Education to MEng or above 
  • Data Centre experience would be desirable, but strong building simulations and modelling in any sector is required (BIM, CFD, REVIT, HEVACOMP, IES) 
  • 5+ years in building services design consultancy or other equivalent background  
  • An interest in building performance and energy efficiency combined with conventional and upcoming electrical, cooling/ventilation technologies 
  • Role based in Nottingham, UK but home working would be supported – but the role entails a significant amount of time on customer sites, including international sites (US, APAC, EMEA) 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and able to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues 
  • Strong computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Clean Full UK driving licence UK/EU Passport holder
